- Getaways is a curated collection of luxury African travel experiences. It is operated by Workshops in Africa, an established team with years of experience arranging travel across the region. Getaways is the brand you book through; Workshops in Africa handles the operations, relationships and on-the-ground logistics.
- Are these prices final?
- The prices shown are indicative starting points in US dollars, per person sharing. Because our packages combine flights, transfers and lodge stays whose availability and rates can change, we confirm a firm quote for your exact dates and party before any payment is taken.
- Why are prices in US dollars when the lodges are in South Africa?
- Our suppliers quote in South African rand. We display a US-dollar guide price for an international audience, calculated from the current exchange rate. Your final quote and any payment are handled transparently by our team.
- What does 'free nights' mean?
- Several 2027 packages include complimentary nights built into the itinerary — for example, stay six nights and pay for five. This is genuine added value negotiated with the lodges, not a discount gimmick or manufactured urgency.
- How do I book?
- You can enquire about any package and we'll confirm availability and a firm quote. Where a package has a published price, you can also reserve your place with a secure deposit online; the balance is settled closer to travel. Bespoke trips are quoted individually.
- Can you arrange a completely custom trip?
- Yes. If nothing here is quite right, tell us who's travelling, roughly when, and what you have in mind through our bespoke enquiry, and we'll design a private itinerary around you.
- Are the reserves malaria-free?
- Madikwe Game Reserve is malaria-free, which makes it a popular choice for families. The Sabi Sand and Timbavati are in low-risk malaria areas; we're happy to advise, but please also consult a travel-health professional.
- Are children welcome?
- It depends on the lodge. Tuningi in Madikwe welcomes children from six years of age and has family suites. Other lodges have their own policies — just ask and we'll match you to the right property.
- What's included in a package price?
- Generally: accommodation on a fully-inclusive basis, meals, local beverages and house wines at the safari lodges, twice-daily game drives with expert guides, and the flights and transfers listed in the routing. Conservation levies, premium drinks and personal extras are typically excluded — each package page lists the specifics.
- Is my payment secure?
- Yes. Online payments are processed by Stripe, a leading global payments provider. We never see or store your full card details.
